If you want to take the train from Kuala Kangsar to Penang (Butterworth Railway Station), KTM Berhad operate the fast Electric Train Service (ETS for short) on this route.
These ETS trains are the only way to travel from Kuala Kangsar to Butterworth by train, as the cheap KTM Komuter Utara trains do not travel as far south as this (they terminate one stop north of here at Padang Rengas).

Once you arrive at Butterworth Railway Station, you can then take a short walk to the ferry departure point and take one of the regular boats over to Penang Island.
Please Note: Ferries do not operated 24 hours a day and the last boat over to Georgetown departs before some of the trains arrive - So we would advise you to take one of the earlier trains.
