Another option for travelling from Penang to Melaka is by train.
The nearest railway station to Melaka town is at Tampin.
There are direct ETS trains from Butterworth to Tampin or you can take a more regular ETS service from Butterworth to KL Sentral Station in Kuala Lumpur, then change onto a cheap KTM Komuter service to Tampin.
From Tampin Railway Station, you can then take a local bus or taxi into Melaka.
