Penang Airport Information - Travel options from the airport.
Flying
into Pulau Pinang you will arrive at Penang International (PEN) which
is located in Bayan Lepas, about 16km or 10 miles from George Town.
Arrivals are located on the ground floor, where you will find a Tourist
Information Centre, a couple of food outlets, taxi and car hire
counters.
To take the public bus (operated by RapidPenang), you will find the bus stop located on the lower level of the roads that lead to the terminal building.
Bus 401 and 401E will take you to Georgetown and KOMTAR bus terminal, where you can connect with other buses going to anywhere on the island.
These buses then travel near to Chulia street (if you are looking for budget accommodation), then on to the Jetty for the ferry over to Butterworth on the mainland.
Bus 102 will take you to the beach at Batu Feringghi.

As you come out of the customs area there are many counters where you can book your rental car, or if you want to make an advance booking, you can book online for the best deals.
There is a taxi counter in arrivals where you can purchase coupons at fixed prices for taxis to take you into George Town or out to the beaches at Batu Ferringhi.
Current Taxi fares (tambang) from the airport are:
PEN to Bayan Lapas RM 18
PEN to KOMTAR Georgetown RM 45
PEN to Batu Ferringhi RM 75
If you are arriving late at night the taxi fare is 50% more between the hours of midnight until 6 am.
Standard taxies can carry four people (with a reasonable amount of luggage).
Larger taxies (vans) are also available for up to 10 people and cost double the rate of the standard taxi.
