A popular journey on this commuter line is to take the train from Butterworth to the interesting town of Taiping.
You could take the much more expensive ETS Electric Train to Taiping, but we recommend you save your money and take the much cheaper commuter train.

Please note: This KTM Komuter Utara route was extended 3 stations further south to Ipoh in September 2023.
Previously, only a few trains a day originated from Butterworth railway station to Padang Rengas on this route, with all other services originating in Bukit Mertajam. Now KTM have changed the route so that all trains on this Komuter route now originate from Butterworth.
