If you want to travel from Kuala Lumpur city centre or KLIA / KLIA2, KL to Cameron Highlands in Pahang, you can either take a direct bus, travel part of the way by train (via Tapah Road or Ipoh) or drive your own car (or rent a car).
How far is Kuala Lumpur to Cameron Highlands?
By road, it is a little over 200 Kilometres.
If you don't have your own transport, the most direct and cheapest
way to travel to the Cameron Highlands from KL is to take a bus / coach.
Bus:
Buses / coaches depart from the large TBS Bus Station in KL (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan), and terminate at the Tanah Rata Bus Terminal in the Cameron Highlands (Tanah Rata is the main town in CH and where you will find most of the accommodation).

How long does it take to travel by bus from KL to the Cameron Highlands?
About three and a half, to four hours, depending on traffic.
TBS Bus Station is easily reached from anywhere in Kuala Lumpur city centre and is located next to the Bandar Tasik Selatan Train Station.
City buses and KTM Komuter Trains / KLIA Transit Trains / LRT Trains all stop here.
If you are flying into Malaysia and want to travel directly from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA / KLIA2) to the Cameron Highlands, there are currently no direct buses from the airport.
You will first have to take the KLIA Transit Train to Bandar Tasik Selatan Station, which is located right next to the TBS Bus Station (see above for bus information from TBS).
The two nearest railway stations to the Cameron Highlands are either Tapah Road or Ipoh, but we would not recommend you take the train (unless you want to visit these places first), as the connections to buses from either station are not that good.
If you go to Tapah Road Station, you will have to take a taxi to the bus stop in Tapah Town.
If you go to Ipoh Station, you will have to take a taxi or local city bus from Medan Kidd Bus Station to Amanjaya Bus Station, where all long-distance buses now leave from.
If you want to drive to the Cameron Highlands from Kuala Lumpur, the most popular, direct and most scenic route is to take the E1 Highway out of KL, exiting at exit 132 to Tapah.
From Tapah you then have to take the old scenic, winding road (route 59) up into the mountains.
The first town you come to in the Highlands is Ringlet (47 km from Tapah), then it's another 12.5 km to Tanah Rata. The road then continues on to Brinchang.
There is no airport in the Cameron Highlands - The nearest airport to the Cameron Highlands is either in Ipoh (Sultan Azlan Shah Airport) or KLIA in Kuala Lumpur.
