If you want to travel from Kampar to Penang Island (George Town) by train there are a few KTM Electric Train Services (ETS) Gold departures a day to Butterworth Railway Station on the mainland, 15 minutes ferry ride away from the island.
From June 2018, the ETS Platinum services will also now be operating on this route.

EP 9172 (ETS Platinum) Departs Kampar at 10:01 - Arrives in Butterworth at 12:10.
EP 9176 (ETS Platinum) Departs Kampar at 15:36 - Arrives in Butterworth at 17:45.
EP 9178 (ETS Platinum) Departs Kampar at 17:51 - Arrives in Butterworth at 20:00.
EG 9322 (ETS Gold) Departs Kampar at 20:28 - Arrives in Butterworth at 22:42.
EP 9180 (ETS Platinum) Departs Kampar at 22:11 - Arrives in Butterworth at 00:20.
All Platinum train services now have a business class carriage.

Travel by train from Kampar to Penang is not the cheapest way (buses are cheaper) and also there is a problem with the timings of your arrival in Butterworth Station, as the later trains will miss the last ferry the leaves from Butterworth at around midnight.
So if you want to take the train, take an earlier one arriving before midnight.

From the station in Butterworth to the ferry terminal, you have to walk for around five minutes.
From the jetty in George Town, you can easily walk into the old town of take a RapidPenang Bus from just in front of the jetty.
Buses run to all parts of the city and around the island to popular destination like Batu Ferringhi Beach.
