If you have just arrived at the KTM Arau Railway Station by train and want to get from there to the Kuala Perlis Jetty for boats over to Kuah on Langkawi Island you have a choice of taking a local bus from KTM Arau to Kangar, then another bus from Kangar to Kuala Perlis or taking a much more expensive taxi.
The distance from the KTM train station in Arau to Kangar Bus Terminal (Bukit Lagi) is approximately 10 km.
The bus service from Arau Railway Station to Kangar is operated by MyBas Perlis (MyBus).
Buses stop at the bus stop located just outside the railway station exit on the MyBas T10 bus route that operates between Changlun and Kangar.

As KTM Arau is around halfway along this route, expect the bus to arrive at Arau train station 20 to 30 minutes after the times shown below.

The MyBas T10 service terminates at the dedicated MyBas bus stops located just behind the Kangar bus stations terminal building.

If you want to stay in Kangar for a while, you will find plenty of hotels in town within an easy 5 to 10 minute walk of the bus station.
Being the state capital of Perlis, Kangar has a good choice of places to stay (compared to Kuala Perlis) with a good selection of budget to deluxe hotels scattered around the town centre.
A taxi is the quickest way to travel from Arau to Kangar and should take only 15 minutes on a good traffic day.
However, it is much more expensive than the bus and will cost around 18 to 20 RM.
You will find plenty of taxi drivers outside the station waiting to pick up passengers off the arriving trains.
